"What Else?" Blog

After I decided to start this blog, one of my first concerns was the name. I figured the name was vitally important, and not necessarily something I should choose on my own, so I asked my promotional team at Steiner Sports to help me come up with one. We set up a Google Doc for everyone to share their suggestions, and within an hour, seven or so people had suggested over 50 names. We had a meeting. More names popped up.

I decided to take a break this week because I have no interest in watching the Home Run Derby and no interest in the All-Star Game. And in these last few days I had time to think about what I would like to have a little more of and a little less of in sports.

With MLB All-Star Game festivities concluded and no baseball for the next few days, now it's time for what's become my annual look at the state of baseball:

This article from The New York Times is a fantastic take on the bloated salaries coming out of this year's NBA Free Agency period amidst the salary cap hike. For some players in particular, the contracts are shocking. And with over $3 billion being spent on just 70 players so far, this has become the sports topic of the summer. 

In order to be and stay successful in business, we must continually use the world as our classroom.

When things aren’t going so hot in your life, do you punish those around you?

When you first start out in the working world, it's easy to think that you are underpaid. You are eager to put in work and add a lot of value, but maybe that value does not translate to lining your pockets. That's okay. People notice what you are doing.
