You've Lost The Exact Moment You Decided To Give Up

"My life should be over because of addiction"-Darryl Strawberry

On the most recent episode of my podcast, Unplugged with Brandon Steiner, I spoke with 4X World Series Champion Darryl Strawberry

Darryl was not only a name known around baseball, but the entire country knew of the Darryl Strawberry phenomenon. Not a NYC street could he walk down without being picked out of the crowd. While he was thriving in the public eye, his struggle with addiction was slowly taking over his life.  A great baseball career derailed, Darryl will be remembered for his rebound from that struggle

If anything, his ability to never give up is nothing short of inspiring. If it's to not give up on himself, or to not give up on the children he is hoping to make impact in their lives, he never gives up.

The worst thing you could ever do in your life is give up. The moment you decide to is the exact same moment you have lost your goals, and you have lost yourself. The idea of giving up will cross your mind, but by not giving up is what will define your success.

In the end you have two options, give up or create a legacy. No person who gave up has a legacy, but every legacy has a person behind it who never gave up.

His ability to never give up is nothing short of inspiring. Today he has released a book, Don't Give Up On Me-Shedding Light On Addiction with Darryl Strawberry.

By shedding light on addiction, *Don't Give Up On Me* speaks to all people--from those who are still trapped in the depths of addiction to those who are currently in recovery, as well as to caregivers, parents, friends, and therapists.

This book also stresses the importance of healthy parenting. Childhood feelings of low self-esteem, low self-worth, bullying, as well as emotional and physical pain, can sow the seeds of substance abuse at an early age. Whether the addiction is to alcohol, heroin, or other opiates, gambling, food, or sex--this book shares the hard truths and hopeful messages for anyone impacted by this deadly dilemma.

In this episode we discuss:

  • His new book Don’t Give Up on Me- Shedding Light On Addiction
  • Struggling with addiction
  • Helping others struggling with addiction
  • Educating children about the dangers of addiction
  • His purpose being to change lives
  • Life after baseball
  • ...and more.
