There Is No I In Leader

"The title is the President, but it's about us players as a whole, it's not about me at all."-Chris Paul

On the most recent episode of my podcast, Unplugged with Brandon Steiner, I spoke with nine-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul.

Making his debut with the Houston Rockets this season, CP3 has always been a fearless leader on the court. The level of impact he has off-the-court for the league, its players and the community is astonishing.

In our conversation, we discussed his role as the NBPA President, a title he says he did not take to fulfill his own needs, but to help the players as a whole. As a leader this is one of the most important qualities you can have.

If you are leading a team, a business, or a community, what you need is not what matters. Great leaders are not born great. They learn to adapt to the needs of those who look up to them. There is an old adage that goes, "There is no ‘I' in team.” Well, I say there is no “I” in leader.

 In this episode we discuss:

  • His line of sneakers
  • Growing up a die hard Cowboys fan
  • His message to the people of Houston
  • Jame Harden
  • Diet and Health management
  • Being President of the NBPA
  • ...and more.
