My new book Living on Purpose: Stories About Faith, Fortune and Fitness that Will Lead You to an Extraordinary Life is available now!
Last month, former NFL running back and ESPN analyst Merril Hoge came onto my Project X show to discuss his latest book Brainwashed; which I highly recommend you check out if you want to know whether you should allow your kid to play football.
Within our interview, Merril told a story about something Hall of Fame head coach Chuck Noll taught him early on in his career. For the entirety of his playing career before that moment, he thought he always did everything he could for his team. But Coach Noll challenged him to do more, and to be uncommon.
Listen to Merril's inspiring story below:
Merril went on to play 8 seasons in the NFL, and was a longtime football analyst at ESPN shortly thereafter. Without Coach Noll striving to get as much as he could out of him, who knows if Merril would become as successful as he's been.
Sometimes, it's easy to think you're doing everything you can. Life has its stressful moments, and it's easy to get caught up in those moments.
But in order to be successful, you need to find a way to stand out. You need to be uncommon in your effort.
What are you doing to differentiate yourself?
