My priorities on thankfulness of course always start with the health and happiness of my family and having appreciation for this great country we live in.
With that, I wanted to take a look at the 5 things in the sports world I am most thankful for:
- A team like the San Antonio Spurs.
When you play the game right, nice guys can finish first. Unbelievable run they have been on for the last 20 years with Gregg Popovich at the helm and Tim Duncan as his anchor. Everything about the way that organization runs is something that should be modeled, and not just in sports.
- Kristaps Porzingis.
The greatest basketball city in the world needs to be represented and the grand stage and Kristaps Porzingis is shocking a lot of people right now. He has physical talent and a high basketball IQ. We just might have something special brewing. It’s becoming clearer by the day that Phil Jackson got the pick right.
And since we’re on the topic of a New York team, I have to mention: in hockey you always have to be thankful for your goaltender and my Rangers have the best one on the planet in Henrik Lundqvist!
- Tom Brady’s dominance.
Having watched Unitas, Namath, Montana and the Mannings- with all due respect to them because they are great – I’m thankful to watch maybe the greatest quarterback ever in Tom Brady. Just when you think you’ve seen everything, you get Tom Brady dominating, again, with so many injuries around him, again. It’s just unbelievable!
- Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors
Thankful that on all the nights I can’t sleep I can turn on a game on the west coast and catch the Warriors and Stephen Curry put on a show. Then I can go to bed happy. Inspires me to go to the gym and put up 300 shots a day, hoping I may get some range.
- All of the great football players over the years.
I’m thankful for all the football greats that have entertained us on Sundays. Beyond being thankful, I am extremely hopeful that they are able to maintain their health. As we hear of another case of CTE with Frank Gifford, I pray that we can fix the issues with player safety in the NFL.
What are you most thankful for?
