Ask anyone what their plans are for the weekend and they will tell you. Maybe they’re going to the beach, a party or have plans to go to shopping at the mall.
No matter how big or how small plans are, it takes advance preparation to successfully carry them out.
Jim Abbott was born with only one hand, but that didn’t stop him from becoming the nation’s best amateur athlete in 1987 nor did it stop him from being a first-round pick in the MLB draft. Abbott went on to pitch a no-hitter for the New York Yankees against the Cleveland Indians in 1993.
When asked how he did it, he replied, “I just tried to stick to the plan that I had going into the game.” Abbott knew the importance of a game plan and ultimately carrying out that plan was what enabled him to defy odds and become a household name.
Having a plan is one thing. It's certainly important to know where you want to go. But, its equally important to see that you follow through and reach your final destination.
