You may remember a few months back when I asked, "When did lying become the new black?"
Well, now I have to ask it again. I mean, Brian Williams- what happened?
It bothers me when someone of significance lies in such a blatant way to the public. Though, even with that in mind, it bothers me more when that someone is chastised for it to no end.
Brian Williams messed up. He made a mistake. I completely understand that. But, what about his family? Is anyone thinking about how they are affected while he continues to get ridiculed?
My hope is that with his lie and the punishment behind him, Brian Williams can move on to lead a better life. Whether he continues to be on TV anymore is irrelevant. The important thing is that there is a lesson to be learned here: when you lie, there are consequences. Tell the truth 100% of the time.
What happened to the importance of being honest? We may have lost who's giving us the world news, but let's not lose the lesson.
