Thinking About It vs Talking About It

I was talking with a good friend of mine recently, Stacy Kestin about  some new ideas I have and  new goals for the new year.

When I told Stacy all the things I have been thinking about, she asked, “Who have you talked to about this?”

Truth be told, these were a bunch of really big ideas that I had given a great deal of thought to about changes for my business in 2016, but had neglected to share with anyone else until just then.

“Thinking about something important is not the same as talking about what is important,” she told me.

Immediately a light bulb went off in my head. To a point, I guess we all do that—we have these big, grand ideas in our heads, but they just stay ideas for a very long time because we either don’t have the courage to say something or just don’t think the idea is complete.

Stacy was right—the truth just because you think about something, it doesn’t equal talking something through with the appropriate people. Just like the old saying goes, if a tree falls in the forest, but no one’s there, did it make a sound?

Most of us average 60,000 thoughts a day. Yes, in one day! So, the question is, what are you thinking about and are you willing to share that with the appropriate people? (i.e. your wife or husband, boss, friend,  etc.)

Thinking about something is great…it’s even better when you can talk about it, too!
